Nebrodi Park area is charaterised by a fertile landscape, rich of lakes, springs water and primitive forests. You should make sure you come around here for a visit. The excursion I suggest starts from Floresta, once called “Casale”, the highest village in Sicily, at about 1250 meters, still today a town of shepherds. Many people I was leading around this area compared it to a “small Switzerland”. When, in the summertime, the rest of the island is burned by the sun, this land is bright green, and it is cold and covered in snow in the winter. From Floresta we will reach the area of the mountains lakes. From the Nebrodi Mountains ridges you can see Mount Etna on one side and the sea and the Aeolian Islands on the other.
The length of the routes is about 10/ 15 km.
This route does not present technical difficulties, as it will hike on forest tracks.
Wear to wear: Trekking shoes, soft shell, rain jacket, backpack, sticks, a t-shirt replacement.
